Patrick Metzger

Central Scout

Patrick Metzger was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, where he played his youth hockey before attending St. Edward High School. During his time at St. Edward, the Eagles won two Ohio state championships. After graduation, Patrick played junior hockey in the American Frontier Hockey League (Tier II, Jr. A) for the Great Falls Americans and Toledo Cherokees in the Central States Hockey League, where he led the league in scoring. He then moved on to Kent State University, where he played for the Golden Flashes and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

After graduating, Patrick began his coaching career with Team Ohio, the program he now owns and operates. His coaching résumé spans 25 years, during which he has coached at both the Tier I level, primarily with the Cleveland Barons, and the Tier II level with Team Ohio. Currently, Coach Metzger is the Head Coach of the U18 and U16 national-bound split-season teams, as well as the U14 national-bound full-season team at Team Ohio.

Patrick has a deep understanding of the ever-changing hockey landscape and extensive knowledge of what it takes for a player to succeed at the next level. Over the past ten years, he has worked as a Midwest scout for several Tier I/Tier II junior organizations across North America and Canada.

Coach Metzger has a proven track record of success at all levels, from his high school playing days to his 18 Ohio state championships and the 2019 USA Hockey National Championship with Team Ohio. Patrick’s proudest accomplishment is the hundreds of players he has helped transition from one level to the next.

For the upcoming season, Patrick is excited to be working with the West Chester Wolves hockey organization in their scouting department. He is focused on making the Wolves a top destination for midget and junior players across the country.
