He began his career in the 2013-2014 season with the New Jersey Renegades in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MetJHL). Halfway through his first season, he was traded to the Richmond Generals. After the trade, Brian played two more seasons with the Generals after they moved into the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). In their first season in the league, Brian played 36 games for the Generals, collecting 5 goals and 7 assists for 12 points. The following year, Brian was named captain of the team and played 44 games, scoring 8 goals and 23 assists for 31 points, bringing his total for the Generals to 80 games played, 13 goals, and 30 assists for 43 points.

Brian grew up in Chatham, New Jersey, where he played youth hockey for the New Jersey Penguins and Bridgewater Bears at the A and AA levels. He also played for and graduated from Chatham High School, where he helped the school to two New Jersey State Championships.
