Jan.25 Game Recap: Wolves NCDC Rally Falls Short Against Knights

The West Chester Wolves battled back but ultimately fell short in a hard-fought 5-3 loss to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights.

The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, with goals from Ilya Baldin and Timofei Korober. They capitalized on their power-play opportunities in the second, extending their lead to 4-0 with strikes from Zackary Chouinard and Kaleb MacAulay.

The Wolves showed resilience late in the second period when Anton Berg scored a power-play goal, assisted by Brayden Sprickman and Emil Szepesi, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

West Chester carried that momentum into the third period. Sean Tyrie scored early off feeds from Maddox Goudie and Kai Mencel to make it 4-2. Later, Mencel added a goal of his own, with assists from Tyrie and Andrew Iwinski, bringing the Wolves within one at 4-3.

Despite their surge, Wilkes-Barre’s Semyon Royev sealed the win with an insurance goal midway through the third.

The Wolves outshot the Knights 43-39, with Giulio Torriero making 34 saves in net. Emmanuel Pepin stood tall for the Knights, stopping 40 shots to secure the victory.

West Chester went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Wilkes-Barre was a perfect 2-for-2.
