The West Chester Wolves hit the ice Saturday night at PNY Sports Arena, defeating the Rockets Hockey Club 4-2 to complete the weekend sweep.
The Wolves struck first midway through the opening period when forward Max McKay found the back of the net off a slick feed from Alexander Couture and Yianni Tsatsoulis. The early goal energized the Wolves, who controlled the pace throughout the period, outshooting the Rockets 14-8.
The second period saw a flurry of penalties from both teams, but the Wolves capitalized on the power play to extend their lead. McKay notched his second goal of the night at 10:42, with captain Andrew Farley and Aidan Urie picking up assists. The Rockets answered back shortly after with a shorthanded goal from Anthony Azzarello at 6:29, followed by a power-play tally from Azzarello again at 9:27 to even the score at 2-2.
Undeterred, the Wolves regained their composure and struck again late in the period. McKay completed his hat trick at 16:24 on another power-play opportunity, with assists from Braydon Webster and Tsatsoulis. The Wolves took a 3-2 lead into the final period.
The third period was marked by strong defensive play and discipline from the Wolves, who limited the Rockets’ chances despite a late push. Aidan Urie sealed the victory with a goal at 15:48, assisted by Jacob Emmanuel and Drew McCandless. Goaltender John Feeley stood tall, stopping 29 of 31 shots to secure the win.
Special teams played a crucial role in the game, as the Wolves converted on 2 of their 5 power-play opportunities while limiting the Rockets to 1 for 5. The Rockets’ discipline faltered, accumulating 51 penalty minutes, including multiple misconducts, which disrupted their flow and allowed the Wolves to dominate on the man advantage.
